Hunter was a pitcher in the Athletics organization from 1965 when they were located in Kansas City until 1974. He played in six All-Star Games, won the AL Cy Young in 1974, and led the MLB in ERA in the same year. He also won three consecutive World Series and this bobblehead commemorates the 50th anniversary of the third of those wins in 1974
